Tennessee man charged with murder of Will County infant

A man from Memphis, Tennessee, has been charged in Will County with the 2022 murder of an infant in Monee.On Thursday, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Kelsey Lavelle Simmons, 35, on charges of the first-degree murder of Sevyn Simmons on Aug. 31, 2022.The infant’s death was deemed a homicide from closed head injuries, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.Simmons is charged with killing Sevyn Simmons by inflicting “closed head injuries due to blunt force head trauma,” according to the criminal complaint. The case was investigated by the Monee Police Department.
